Maple Whiskey Barbecue Sauce
This recipe goes great with ribs! It's lip-smacking, finger-licking good!
Ingredients
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 can tomato paste
- 1 onion chopped
- 3 garlic clothes minced
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/3 cup whiskey
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup grainy mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pinch cinnamon
Directions
In saucepan, combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, onion, garlic, vinegar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, whiskey, maple syrup, mustard, Worchestershire sauce and cinnamon.
Bring sauce to boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occassionally, until thickened and reduced by one-third - about 1 hour.
Let cool. Pour into blender, puree until smooth.
Keeps up to one month in the refrigerator in an air-tight container.
